and all the other animals that have had things evolve from them? i'm not trying to be an a**, i just was wondering what evolutionists' theory was on this.

We didn't evolve from modern apes. At one point humans and other apes had a common ansestor which took different evolutionary paths

Personally I don't believe in evolution for multiple reasons.
Anyway, evolutionists would probably tell you that species are out to survive. They improve themselves in order to survive, not necessarily become smarter. According to evolutionists, they say that there even was this dinosaur that needed a longer neck. Eventually when it had evolved a longer neck, it's brain shrunk, because they're out to survive, not to become smarter.
They would also tell you that monkeys took a different route on the path of evolution.
PS, Conventional science (meaning the generally accepted science, not necessarily true science) often concludes certain things when something might point in the direction of their conclusion. They often call those things facts even when they're not 100% certain. They keep believing they are facts untill something proves them otherwise or simply increases their knowledge on a certain subject.
Would you really be surprised if 20-50 years from now scientist change their minds on evolution?

I'm not going to get too in depth with this, but I'll try to explain a little. Evolution doesn't work in the way you probably think of it. Humans didn't directly descend from any living species of monkey or ape. Modern humans evolved from more primitive species of human, which evolved from something even more primitive, until eventually you go back enough and you get an ape that walked upright. That ape is descended from another ape, which has an even more primitive ape as an ancestor, which can eventually be traced back to a specific monkey. That can be traced further and further back and it just keeps going like that over millions of years, which is a pretty inconceivable amount of time. A lot happens in a million years.
