I was watching National Geographics and apparently the bite only feels like a bee sting. Has anyone died?
I find tarantulas fascinating!

Despite their often threatening appearance and reputation, no tarantula has been known to have a bite that is deadly to humans. In general, the effects of the bites of all kinds of tarantula are not well known.
While the bites of many species are known to be no worse than a wasp sting, accounts of bites by some species are reported to be very painful and to produce intense spasms that may recur over a period of several days; the venom by the African tarantula Pelinobius muticus also causes strong hallucinations. In all cases, it is prudent to seek medical aid.
Because other proteins are included when a toxin is injected, some individuals may suffer severe symptoms due to an allergic reaction rather than to the venom. Such allergic effects can be life-threatening.
As long as it isn't the African Variety, your safe, just don't threat the fuzzy looking spider in any way.
My 5th grade teacher live in a place where tarantulas where everywhere, and she would sit in the grass and hold out her hands and one would crawl in her hands to examine her.

Yes tons, one man had several black widows which are posionous spiders as pets and they killed him. He had 200 black widows, thousands of ternimites, several snakes, and a gecko. Read story here. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/article152044.ece
I woudn't recommend reading the article unless you don't get grossed out easily.
John Tucan, the Pholcidae is considered the world's most venemous spider. It was proven on mythbusters that it will not kill. People it will penetrate your skin at .1 mm. It's fangs are .25mm. You will only feel a mild burn sensation. The effect doesn't have too many effects on small insects either.

You won't die from Trantula bites. Most people won't die from arachnid bites in general if they are healthy
