So a tropical storm/depression formed already & it's not even hurricane season yet. Is this a sign that this year will be a very active year for hurricanes? Is there any signs or evidence that this hurricane season will be like 2005?

No. This season is sopposed to be a near avarge season and Tropical Storm Aletta only formed 1 day early and thats way out in the pacific BUT it only takes 1 storm for it to be the next big thing. And there will be only 11 storms (prediction) Like Hurricane Irene, Despite all the weak storms, Despite Ophiela and katia (stronger) they won't retired but Irene WAS.Allison is a good exsample to. Allison was a Tropical Storm and look at what it did, IT was retired. And Katrina was only a Cat.3 at new orlans landfall. And the Pacific season begins earlier than the Alantic Season. Basicly it dont matter how active a season is it only takes ONE storm like Mitch. 2011 was a VERY active season BUT only one name was retired. But be prepared because most of this is global warming. What if KATRINA is only a TASTE of whats to come?, It is UNKNOWN what will happen. Wilma (record strongest in our (alantic) basin) Hit mexico while it was near peak intensty.Just be careful. But the anwser to your main question is most likley No, But nobody knows
