1 how do you know that the place you are travelling into isn't already occupied
2 just to travel back say 24 hours you have to consider that the earth will actually be several 10s of thousand miles away
3 what happens if you meet your mother/father? they might marry you instead
4 the obvious thought, go back to 1930 and nobble A Hitler, then the Nazi regime goes to war with competent leaders.
5 if it's possible then why haven't any travellers been found, surely if it were commonplace then someone would have broken the likely non-disclosure rules
