also is it even possible to reach at the speed of light?

Scientists routinely use particle accelerators to send subatomic particles at speeds very, very close to the speed of light (in excess of 99.99% of lightspeed). They accelerate the particles by sending them around a (huge) circle with strong magnetic fields. On each "lap", the magnetic fields give the particles an extra boost of speed.
We don't have the technology to send anything LARGE (like a human being) at such speeds. It would require an enormous amount of energy. Also, even the vacuum of interstellar space is not completely empty; and moving through that thin stream of particles at near lightspeed would be like standing in the beam of a particle accelerator--it would be deadly. We would have to be able to push those particles out of the way somehow. We are probably at least a century away from such technology (just a guess).
As far as going AT the speed of light, our current understanding of space, time, and energy says that it would take an infinite amount of energy to accelerate even the tiniest atom to lightspeed. So, unless we undergo a major revolution in our understanding of physics, it's probably not going to be possible to reach lightspeed.

theory is good to approach light speed but our capacity to build a vessel that will survive is not.
best acceleration method is to slingshot around planets, stars etc
prototype 'impulse engine' exists.
so long as resistance doesn't exceed acceleration...

It is possible. Particles are being accelerated all the time to very close to the speed of light in particle accelerators.
-
No, it is not possible.
However, scientists (correct me if I'm wrong on this) have been able to shoot particles at the speed of light.

Yes, light does it all of the time.

we dont have the technology to do it. but it would be very cool if we did!. alot of interesting theories around that stuff
