There are thousands of book out there all prove that is something more going on.

Anyone can write a book, and they don't need any evidence that what they write is true to publish it. Books are not evidence of anything, and there is no evidence at all for the paranormal.

I don't dismiss it, at least the parapsychology aspect of it. I have not been convinced by the parapsychology research so far and I'm not expecting any great discoveries to be made in the future, but I am open-minded to the evidence if it should come to pass.
As for ghosts and so forth, there is still not a good scientific reason to think they are real. There are way too many natural explanations to be had.

Why would I study a bunch of crud in the first place?
It can be proved if the same thing happens each time you do an expirement, which isn't the case.
