Whats the difference between O positive and O negative

Aren't they both universal donors?

absolutely NOT!! only O NEGATIVE is a universal donor. A person with O negative blood can give their blood to anyone and it will save their lives, but a person with O negative blood can only get O negative or they will have a severe allergic reaction and die.

O negative blood is special because it has no "antigens" which cause allergic reactions. Hospitals and blood banks have plenty of O neg on hand for emergencies, but when there is time to test someone's blood type (like if they're in the hospital already) then they get THEIR own blood type.

Positive and negative here refers to Rh blood types; if you give Rh positive blood to an Rh negative recipient, he/she will form antibodies to Rh, which in a woman in her fertile years can cause sensitization to a fetus if that fetus has Rh positive blood, the mother's antibodies attacking the fetus and causing Rh disease.

when your talking about blood it refers to some kind of enzyme or something that is missing in negative blood. all it means is that positive blood has it and negative blood doesn't. yes i think they both would still be universal donors.
