A model boat travels at 20 cm per second. How many meters will the boat travel in 2 minutes?
What am I doing wrong? I keep getting 240 or 2400. I feel silly that I can't figure this out.

answers:
RR say: 2 x 60 = 120 seconds
120 x 20 = 2400 cm
There are 100 cm in 1m
2400/100 = 24 metres.

nbsale say: 100 cm to a meter.
So 20cm = 20/100 m = 0.2 meters
0.2 mps X 120 sec = 24 m
-
Carl say: =20m/s* 120sec =2400 m

electron1 say: Use the following equation to determine the distance the boat moves,
d = v * t
To use this equation, the velocity must be in m/s and time in seconds.
1 meter is 100 centimeters. v = 0.2 m/s
1 minute is 60 seconds. t = 2 * 60 = 120 s
d = 0.2 * 120 = 24 meters
I hope this is helpful for you.

? say: // 1 meter = 100 cm; and
// 2 minutes = 2(6) = 120 sec
// First find the distance in cm
20 cm........x
-------- = -----------
1 sec......120 sec
.......20 cm (120 sec)
x = ---------------------
..............1 sec
x = 2400 cm
// Now convert cm to m
100 cm......2400 cm
---------- = ------------
1 m................x
........1 m (2400 cm)
x = -------------------
...............100 cm
x = 24 m...........ANS

TomV say: 0.2 m/sec * 120 sec = 24 m

sepia say: A model boat travels at 20 cm per second.
How many meters will the boat travel in 2 minutes?
2 minutes = 120 seconds
The boat will travel 24 meters in 2 minutes.

Captain Matticus, LandPiratesInc say: 20 cm/sec * 2 minutes * 60 sec/min =>
20 * 2 * 60 [cm * min * sec / (sec * min)] =>
2400 cm
100 cm/m
2400 cm / (100 cm/m) =>
2400/100 meters =>
24 meters

Lôn say: 20 cm per second = 20 x 60 = 1200 cm in a minute = 2400 cm in 2 minutes.
This is 24 metres.
