not a square. If they are the same, then that number is the side length. Multiply that number times itself to get the area of a square. So if there were 9 spaces along the vertical, and 9 along horizontal,......
I made an square out of points In graph paper and I still don't know how to find the side length of a square. I know how to find the area of the square.

Count the graph grids in the horizontal direction. Do the same in the vertical direction. Hopefully you came up with the same number each time. If not then it is a rectangle, not a square. If they are the same, then that number is the side length. Multiply that number times itself to get the area of a square.

So if there were 9 spaces along the vertical, and 9 along horizontal, the side length is 9 units, and the area = 9 x9 = 81 square units.

The side length of a square is the positive square root of its area.

2a 2b
a being the width, b being the height (or reverse, it really doesnt matter)
