Im a 8th grader In need of freaking algebra! Haha. Step by step please?1. Together, Preston and Horatio have 49 video games.......
I need help on these word problems please! They are equations that represent each situation. I'm a 8th grader In need of freaking algebra! Haha. Step by step please?

1. Together, Preston and Horatio have 49 video games. Horatio has 11 more games than Preston. How many games does each person have? (Remember it has to be equations, step by step.)

2. The cost of 8 muffins and 2 quarts of milk is $18. The cost of 3 muffins and 1 quart of milk is $7.50. How much does 1 muffin and 1 quart of milk cost?

3. Veronica has been saving dimes and quarters. She has 94 coins in all, and the total value is $19.30. How many quarters does she have?

4. In one season, Naomi made 4 times as many goals as Kennedy. Together, they made 15 goals. How many goals did Naomi make?

Please help??!!! I have a C- and my parents are mad. Please help?

1)
P + H = 49
H = 11 + P

P + (11 + P) = 49
2P = 49 - 11
2P = 38
P = 19

Preston has 19
Horatio has 30

***

2)
8M + 2Q = 18 ------------> 4M + Q = 9
3M + 1Q = 7.50 ---------> -3M - Q = -7.50

M = 1.50
3M + Q = 7.50
3(1.50) + Q = 7.50
4.50 + Q = 7.50
Q = 3.0

muffins cost $1.50
a quart of milk costs $3.0

***

3)
D + Q = 94 ----------> D = 94 - Q
10D + 25Q = 19300

10(94 - Q) + 25Q = 1930
940 - 10Q + 25Q = 1930
15Q = 1930 - 940
15Q = 990
Q = 66

D + Q = 94
D + 66 = 94
D = 28

Veronica has 66 quarters and 28 dimes

***

4)
N = 4K
N + K = 15

4K + K = 15
5K = 15
K = 3

N + K = 15
N + 3 = 15
N = 12

Kennedy made 3 goals
Naomi made 12 goals

you asked much questions I have no time left to provide an explanation for each. I hope you can follow though, this is an easy one and you can recover from that C-

1) Let Preston and Horatio have p and h games respectively.
Now we have p+h=49
and h= 11+p
Plugging this into the first equation
we get p+11+p=49
ie 2p=49-11=38
or p=19 which means h=11+19=30

I do not want to do your homework
I want you to learn how to handle these types of problems, so that you will not need
to ask for help again.
Using the same logic and method you should be able to solve the other problerms

P+H=49
H-11=P
substitute and finish the rest
