Hence, of the 300, it appears that 65 + 135 = 200 will not continue school. So the probability of a single graduate selected at random not continuing school is 200/300 = 2/3.......
In a college class of 300 graduating senior, 60 have jobs waiting, 15 are going to medical school, 20 are going to law school, and 85 are going to various other kinds of graduate schools. Select one graduate at random, What is the probability that the student does not continue school?

Since there are 60 with jobs waiting, 15 going to med school, 20 going to law school, and 85 going to other grad schools, that accounts for only 165 of the 300 students. That leaves 135 that we don't know what they will do. Hence, of the 300, it appears that 65 + 135 = 200 will not continue school. So the probability of a single graduate selected at random not continuing school is 200/300 = 2/3.
