So basically i have gotten homework and i do not understand it at all. it is called similar figures and the question is asking me to enlarge a rectangle by using the scale factor given. the scale factor is 3 and the rectangle is there and the top of it is 8cm and the side is 2 cm. i do not know how to work this out at all. please can some one please help me im desperate. i need to know how to do the full working out cause my teacher wants it. can you please send me a link or even just explain to me how. thank you to whoever replies.

A scale factor is easy. A scale facto of 3 means you have to triple the lenghts of every sides, so you will end up with a rectangle of 24cm. by 6 cm.
If they would have asked you for a scale factor of 2, you just have to double each sides.
As easy as that!

If the scale factor is 3, it's literally as simple as multiplying both sides by 3. Your new rectangle becomes 24cm x 6cm.
