Does that make any sense? In other words, the narrow end is less than the wide end.If the wide end was first, Id be picturing that the left end is wider than the narrow end so it means more than.Hope that doesnt confuse things.......
Is it greater then 50 or lower

< or > are two mathematical symbols
which are used to compare two numbers
the number which is in the closed end of the symbols is smaller
or say lesser than the number which is in the open end of the
symbols
for example 20<30 which can be also written in the following way
30>20
we can also use the symbols < and > to express the meaning lesser than or
greater than respectively
so

It means less than 50. If the sideways v was going in the other direction, with the point facing right, then it'd mean more than 50. The way I remember which is which is I look to see which end is on the left - the point or the wide opening. The point - in this case - is on the left and I think of the point has being smaller than the big end so it's less than. Does that make any sense? In other words, the narrow end is less than the wide end. If the wide end was first, I'd be picturing that the left end is wider than the narrow end so it means more than. Hope that doesn't confuse things.

Bottom line: It means less than 50.

Lower than. An easy way to tell this is to see which side of the symbol you see first. If it is the smaller end, it is less than and if it is the bigger end, it is greater than.
