3^2, 4^2, 5^2, up to 12^2 and find the largest one with no fractional part in the result.-Im assuming you mean not perfect square because a perfect square would just be using the square root symbol. And no there is not a way sorry.......
(Simplest Radical Form)
Example:
Square root 160, Square root 16*10, Square root 16 Square root10, 4 Square root 10.

start by taking sqrt(160) = 12.649...

So you now know that you need not consider any number larger than 12

successively divide 160 by 2^2, 3^2, 4^2, 5^2, up to 12^2 and find the largest one with no fractional part in the result.
