3) add 7 to both sides,divide by 5 on both sides,Last ones a ratio problem.for every 3 cans of water is need, 2 cans of concentrate,so for every 9 cans,......
Hi, i was wondering if someone could help me with a few math questions

I have to solve each of the following equations and im not sure how to

1) a - 5 = 3
2)d/6 = 4
3)5k-7=43

I also have to solve
x:6 = 4:8

Also i have to solve this:

Orange juice from concentrate is made with two cans of concentrate and 3 cans of water. How many cans of concentrate are needed if 9 cans of water are being used?

Any help with these problems would be much appreciated :)

1) add 5 to both sides of the equation,
a = 5 + 3 = 8

2) multiply by 6 to both sides,
d = 4 * 6 = 24

3) add 7 to both sides,
5k = 50
divide by 5 on both sides,
k = 50/5 = 10

x:6 = 4:8 can be written as
x/6 = 4/8 = 1/2
now multiply both sides by 6
x = 1/2 of 6 = 3

Last one's a ratio problem.
for every 3 cans of water is need, 2 cans of concentrate,
so for every 9 cans, you need 2*3=6 cans of concentrate.

1) add five to both sides. this gives you a=8; to check 8-5=3, looks good!
2)multiply 6 to both sides. This gives you d=4*6 or d=24, check 24/6=4!
3) add 7 to both sides, 5k=50, now divide 5 by both sides k=50/5 or k=10, check 5*10-7=43!
Ratios 4:8, well 4 multiplied by 2 is 8, in other words 4 is half of 8. 3 is half of 6 and 3*2 is six so.
3:6=4:8
If it takes two cans of concentrate to three cans of water the ratio is 2:3. Now you have 9 cans of water instead of 3, this is 3 times the amount of water then before. So times the amount of concentrate by 3 so the answer is 6
Hope this helps!

1) a - 5 = 3

You have to move 5 to the right side of the equation, and since it's negative on the left, it converts to positive on the right:

a = 3 - 5

And resolving:

a = -2

2)d/6 = 4

Here you move 6 to the other side and since it is dividing, it goes into multiplication mode:

d = 4 * 6

And resolving:

d = 24

3)5k-7=43

First, move 7 to the other side:

5k = 43 + 7

Now resolve:

5k = 50

Now move 5, since it's multiplying, it now divides:

k = 50 / 5

Resolve:

k = 10

-
1)8
2) 24
3)7.2
word problem: 6 cans of concentrate

-
1) a - 5 = 3
a = 3 + 5
a = 8

2) d/6 = 4
d = 4 (6)
d = 24

3) 5k -7 = 43
5k = 50
k = 10

x : 6 = 4 : 8
x : 6 = 1 : 2
x = 6 : 2
x = 3

9 :3 x 2 = 6 cans of concentrate are need

-
1 a= 8
2 d=24
3 k=10

3:6=4:8

6 cans of concentrate

-
number 1= 8 number 2= 24 number 3= 10
