Well the way I would do it is solve for one variable then plug it into the other equation:

2. 4x+y=-9 => y=-9-4x
4x+2y=-10 plug in from above
4x+2(-9-4x)=-10
4x-18-8x=-10
-4x=8
x=-2
y=-9-4x=-9-4(-2)=-9+8=-1

4. -4m+n=8 => n=8+4m
-4m+2n=6 plug in from above
-4m+2(8+4m)=6
-4m+16+8m=6
4m=-10
m=-5/2
n=8+4m=8+4(-5/2)=8-10=-2

8. s+t=2 => t=2-s
s-t=4 plug in from above
s-(2-s)=4 (don't forget to distribute that minus sign)
s-2+s=4
2s=6
s=3
t=2-s=2-3=-1

10. -4x+2y=8 => 2y=8+4x => y=4+2x
4x-3y=-10 plug in from above
4x-3(4+2x)=-10
4x-12-6x=-10
-2x=2
x=-1
y=4+2x=4+2(-1)=4-2=2

You can plug all those values into the original equations to check they are right, it doesn't matter which variable or which equation you solve for one variable first, it will come out the same in every case
