How in God's/Buddha's/Allah's name do I figure this out

Here's two problems that are stumping me. Pick one that tickles your fancy, or be adventurous and take both. Please show me your work because that is the ultimate issue- where the hell to go.

Question 1:

tan(45)=60/x

x=60 m

tan(45+15)=60/y

y=34.6

d=x-y

d=60-34.6

d=25.4 m

Question 2:

let theta be x

sin(x)=h

so volume in terms of x is given as

V=(pi/3)(r^2)(sinx) (answer to first part)

so V is max when sin(x) is max, for constant radius

and sin(x) has a max value of 1,

sin(x)=1

x=sin^-1(1)

x=90

What about vishnu, thor and the panthion of other gods? i feel left out =(
