i am making a small circuit from a 9 v battery with led and d cmotor but when i connect all of them and switch it on! the led glows and the motor does not! and when the motor spins led does not light up! wats up! not enought voltage for both? help!

led glows around 2v but the motor will not run in 2v otherwise the dc motor will run on the voltage spcifications such as 12v dc motor ,5v dc motor

like the other person said it depends on the voltage of the motor
you will probably want a parallel circuit ...
this means the led will light at very low voltages probably 2 to 4 volts..
you will have to add a current limiting resistor or a trick i learned with diodes..
if you have a few diodes around you can make a parallel circuit that will run an led or other device of lower voltage right next to a device of high voltage...
->|->|->|->|->|->|----LED----
----motor-----------------------
with this arangement in parallel you will be able to run a motor of higher voltage than the LED
with 6 silicon diodes in series with the LED say the LED is 2V
that means 6*0.7 volts = 5.4 volts
so the total voltage is now 7.4 volts drop across the led diodes
so you will be able to run a motor that needs 7.4 volts...
adding more diodes allows higher voltage motor ..
good luck

probably you battery does not provide enough amps
Try
1) make sure that you connect the led and the motor in parallel!
2) try to use resistor ( try 300 ohms) before motor.
3) use 9V batt. with better amps, OR connect two 9V batt. in parallel.
good luck
