One thousand pounds of wet sand or one thousand pounds of dry sand? 10Points to best answer.

-
they are both one thousand pounds....so they are the same weight

pls choose as the best answer!!! i need points!!! :D

-
Same weight but a thousand pounds of wet sand has slightly more mass because sand is denser than water. The extra weight of water will therefore take more volume than if it were sand. It will be supported sightly more by that weight of the extra atmosphere that would occupy the volume of the wet sand relative to the dry sand. Therefore it would require slightly more mass to have the same weight.

Seriously?

One thousand pounds is one thousand pounds whether it is one thousand pounds of dry sand, or one thousand pounds of a combination of sand and water.

A pound of feathers is heavier than a pound of gold.

Edit: @ TD boy: A pound of feathers weighs 4.45 Newtons, while a pound of gold weighs 3.66 Newtons. You should have looked it up first before you zapped me.
