About 690,300 years. You've got some time to spare.

As long as there are enough humans, that channel will be kept open; its too important a trade route for shipping, too important a drain for the polluted waters of the Mediterranean sea (and the rivers that feed into it). Not to mention the natural barrier for mass migration it forms.....
