If I'm suppose to multiply by 4.184 (that's what my book says)

I got 410 J, 4.1 J, and 4.1 X 10^3 J

What am I doing wrong!

You have 980 kilocalories so first you need to convert that to calories. So...

980 kcal * 1000 cal per kcal = 980,000 cal

980,000 cal * 4.184 joules per cal = 4.1 * 10^6 joules
