Why is mercury (II) sulfide less of an environmental concern than mercury (II) nitrate

so it cant contaminate groundwater.Mercury(II) nitrate on the other hand is soluble and can easily contaminate groundwater.......
Science help for chemistry please

-
mercury (II) sulfide has very little solubility and would release very little mercury (II) ion into the environment, while mercury (II) nitrate is quite soluble and would release a lot of mercury (II). In the same way BaCl2 ingestion would kill you because Ba^2+ is toxic, but you can drink BaSO4 suspension because it is so insoluble that there is essentially no Ba^2+ ion freed by its solubility.

Mercury(II) sulfide is practically insoluble in water, so it can't contaminate groundwater. Mercury(II) nitrate on the other hand is soluble and can easily contaminate groundwater.
