It says on many websites that carrier proteins can be both active and passive transports.
I want to know how they can be passive or active.

Carriers protein can either be passive or active because they may or may not require ATP. Transport by Carrier protein which do not require ATP is known as Facilitated diffusion. Example is the transport of D-glucose molecule by facilitated diffusion(through carriers) and transport of D-glucose by active transport(Na dependent transport systems).

For example, if glucose is taken in through active transport, some water molecules can also come along
