but not part b.The mRNA sequence matches the coding strand (not the template strand) along with substituting U for T.......
hey im usually a person that doesnt ask for help but im just so confused with this:
24. If a coding strand of DNA had the following arrangement of bases, state the arrangement of bases on the (a) template DNA strand
(b) mRNA strand synthesised from this section of DNA.

ACGTTAGGCCCGTACG

im just confused on which im supposed to swap the T for U if you could do it for me and possibly explain thanks

The template strand will have the complementary sequence:

TGCAATCCGGGCATGC

The mRNA transcript will have the same sequence but it uses uracil instead of thymine:

ACGUUAGGCCCGUACG

-
a) TGCAATCCGGGCATGC
they pair up like Adenine (A) goes to Thymine (T) and Cytosine (C) goes to Guanine (G)
so if one side has Adenine its paired base would be Thymine

b) Uracil replaces Thymine in RNA so its
UGCAAUCCGGGCAUCG

john k's answer is correct. Krystal is correct for part a, but not part b. The mRNA sequence matches the coding strand (not the template strand) along with substituting U for T.
