a proton-motive force based metabolism, etc. Some of these proto-cells then crossed the Darwinian threshold to form each of the three domains (Archaea, Eubacteria and Eukarya).EDIT:Ignore CRR, and any websites to information that has a creation.......
P.S The common ancestor was *not* marine bacteria. It is much more likely that it was some sort of RNA molecule enclosed in a membrane. This then underwent considerable modification, evolved DNA, a proton-motive force based metabolism, etc. Some of these "proto-cells" then crossed the Darwinian threshold to form each of the three domains (Archaea, Eubacteria and Eukarya).
EDIT:
Ignore CRR, and any websites to "information" that has a "creation.com" prefix.
@ CRR: You do not have any evidence to support your statements. You're attempting to create controversy where there isn't any; using taxonomic disagreements as evidence against evolution is like voting for a president based on the number of letters in his name.
All of my statements can be backed up with peer-reviewed journal articles. None of yours can, so get out of here, and go spew your bilge somewhere else.
EDIT 2:
@CRR: No, of course not, but I suppose that it's that sort of "reasoning" that's behind your creationism. I don't like liars.
Your zoology teacher is an idiot and has no business running a science class. He is deliberately lying to you. You are correct there has been no new evidence in favour of creationism, there has never been ANY evidence in favour of creationism. This is how creationists operate, get the students while they are still learning, and lie to them. To be quiet honest I would report him to your local school board.
The important thing to realise is that "species" is an entirely human concept, born out of our need to classify and make sense out of the world. Nature doesn't know about species; every individual organism that is created (with the possible exception of some plant hybrids) belongs to the same species as its parents.
The theory of evolution says that change in a population can happen over many generations and will eventually lead to the creation of things that we would describe as new species. Creationists say that there is a barrier to one species becoming something we would describe as a new species, but they don't say what that barrier is or how it operates, or how a population of organisms knows that it is about to cross the line of becoming a new species and starts to restrain itself from evolving any further.
