So, if the distance is tripled, squaring that would give a factor of 9 increase.Hopefully that makes sense.......
Looking at Fick's second law, if D = 0.0001 mm2/s, how much would the time to diffusion change if the distance was changed from 1 mm to 3 mm (i.e. if the distance was tripled)?

A. fall by half
B. stays the same
C. triple
D. increase by a factor of six
E. increase by a factor of nine

just looking at your equation, the units are mm^2/s. So, if the distance is tripled, squaring that would give a factor of 9 increase.

Hopefully that makes sense.
