Hormones are little chemicals that travel through the blood, they are secreted, travel through the blood (or at least just outside the cell). It is then taken up by the effector cell and the action is done.

Reflexes however are are electrical impulses passed down the nerve cells, and so is much quicker, also it doesnt have to go to the brain to take action

Well hormonal actions are controlled whereas reflex actions are involuntary
