Could you give us some idea where it lies in relation to Orion's Belt?
Assuming Yahoo is right in placing you in the United States, there are currently three bright objects in the sky:
1. The planet Jupiter: rises in the east around 5:30 p.m, sets in the west around 8:30 a.m., visible all night in the south. It is above Orion's Belt.
2. The bright star Sirius which rises in the southeast around 10:30 p.m., sets in the southwest about 7 a.m., visible most of the night in the south. It is below Orion's Belt.
3. The planet Venus, which rises in the east around 5 a.m., and is nowhere near Orion's Belt.

The planet Jupiter is currently a little west of Orion. Jupiter outshines every other object in the night sky besides the Moon and the planet Venus, which can currently be seen in the eastern sky before sunrise. The brightest star in the night sky, Sirius is just to the east of Orion's belt.
