@Stephanie - It actually is an authentic NASA image taken by the SOHO satellite.

Oooooooh conspiracies?
I would not trust that it is genuine 'nasa images' when it comes from a website called UFO-blogger.......

I agree with the idea that it's confirmation bias. "Big Bird" indeed!
Anyone can see it's a kangaroo.

It's called pareidolia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pareidolia
People are flawed, even NASA scientists: in your link, the authors claim that it resembles a Sesame Street character,
This image of a coronal hole on the sun bears a remarkable resemblance to the 'Sesame Street' character Big Bird.
Of course, this is cited as tongue-in-cheek, and for good reason: because it's posted for the public, and the majority of the public has no interest in science or rigor, they have to "grab" people's interest and so they talk about things that can easily related such as a children's entertainment character.
So you see that we humans (including those working for NASA) are flawed in that we see what we *want* to see, even when there's no reason to and it's just a random pattern: http://saveyourself.ca/resources/images/…
So if you consider that the Sun sometimes, by pure chance, happens to have features on its surface the same way that Earth does with clouds -- then this stuff seems normal and natural to you. The next question is what are the forces in the Sun (or, in Earth's atmosphere) that stirr up the stuff in there, and not so much as how features come along that some two-legged, two-armed, two-eyed creature finds interesting. It might interest you to know that the Sun has places where the hot material emerges from inside, and where the colder material sinks in, and these are shown in those satellites images as brighter and darker, respectively, in this case as seen in X-rays.
