I'm pretty sure the human race will meet some sort of catastrophe and have a major population reduction. When that happens, we will no longer have the economy to support our current level of technology. For example, your computer cost hundreds of billions or even trillions to develop but that cost was defrayed over hundreds of billions of devices. If we lose enough population we may be forced back into an 19th century lifestyle. That may not happen in the next 100 years but I don't expect this population growth to last. If it did, it would be a very special time to be born at the beginning of this grand rise in population and I don't think I'm that special. It is more likely I would be born at a time when more people existed than any other time... a population bubble. Not a scientific viewpoint, just an observation with a statistical point of one.
But, if things continue...
I think there is a limit to the discoveries we can make. Physics already understands most things on at least a general level, with a few notable exceptions, and everything else is based on our knowledge of physics. Our technology will take a long time to catch up because we need an ever increasing economy as a driver, or at least ever cheaper and abundant energy. But think for example, how quickly aircraft design changed after World War II, and now, at least airframe structure, has mostly stagnated since the 70's. So we moved on to other technological advancements like electronics, but even that will stagnate eventually and our technological advancements will be in some other field. In the short term though, in 100 years, technology should look very different. We may be on the cusp of true artificial intelligence by that time, and many may opt to have robotic relationships rather than human relationships. Perhaps that is why the population will drop. I think the next important evolution of humankind is actually robotkind. They will view organic life as just the evolutionary path to cyberlife, and feel like they are God's chosen.
