What is that unusually bright star I keep seeing at night

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 12-04-23] [Hit: ]
it seems to stay pretty much stationary throughout the night and like I said its much brighter than any other star in the sky..I was thinking the north star maybe but, this star is more to the west? are there any planets that are visible right now without the use of a telescope that Im seeing?-Thats the planet Venus with Jupiter closer to the Horizon.......
I live in Northwest PA and at night time if I'm standing facing directly north, directly above me and just to the west there is a really rather large and very unusually. bright star, or planet? it seems to stay pretty much stationary throughout the night and like I said its much brighter than any other star in the sky..I was thinking the north star maybe but, this star is more to the west? are there any planets that are visible right now without the use of a telescope that I'm seeing?

That's the planet Venus with Jupiter closer to the Horizon.Turn around and look east to souteast for Mars, If Saturn isn't already up, it will rise withing two hours.

It is the planet Venus.

"it seems to stay pretty much stationary throughout the night"

Then you haven't stayed up very late. It actually sets around midnight.

Currently there are three bright planets in the evening sky. Go out about an hour after sunset, and you will see Venus in the northwest, Mars in the south, and Saturn in the southeast. They are all brighter than the brightest stars.

I think it's the planet Venus as that is currently the brightest object in the night sky because the moon is in it NEW stage and is not visible.
Venus.

Venus or ISS (International Space Station)
