Ummm, ..., no. IMHO, that sounds like a lot of far fetched speculation that may not playout to be very practical at all. I'm of the humble opinion that detonating nuclear pellets is the fastest and most efficient way to achieve near light speed.

Well, I was thrown off the chair by your statement. Probably you forgot to insert 'billion' between '23' & 'years'. By the way you spelt galaxy I can say that. I am sure Michio Kaku wouldn't have uttered "23 years" as the 'time to reach the Andromeda galacy'.
It reminds me (inserting a word) of the joke about a general in India. He went to visit a remote forward area . He was very particular about his properly washed & pressed clothes. In any place in rural India there is a washer woman to do the job.That was before washing machines came and in this particular location there were no people and no washer women. The general asked his wireless operator to send a message to the HQ asking for a woman to wash his clothes be sent . The message sent was 'Send for General woman to wash'. After the general saw the text of the sent message, he was furious. He demanded an appropriate correction be sent. The message now sent was, 'Correction: insert "washer" between general & woman'.
