What predictions are you talking about? The Mayans and Chinese NEVER predicted the end of the world. They predicted a beginning of a new era. Big difference. Planetary alignments have no effect on earth.


The only event occurring on that date and time is the Winter Solstice, (Summer Solstice for Australia).

I am an astronomer, and can assure you that the only predictions astronomers have made is that nothing out of the ordinary is expected to happen.

No, well yes I will be happy to laugh at all of the idiots who actually thought something might happen. Then when nothing does there will be a "new" date soon or an explanation of why something did not happen. I personally wish I would have started a website to sell 2012 crap to morons so that I could take all of the money and donate to charities and people helping other people. If anything happens it will because people do something stupid on their own.

I would like to say I am waiting for people to "smarten up" but that is not going to happen either.

There is a lot of misinformation out there. I remember Y2K was supposed to produce some kind of human ascension too. Idealists hope something will change humanity for the better, and Rationals laugh at that hope.

I do find their calendars rather amazing though, how accurately they predicted celestial events. Just how did they arrive at their calculations for their time? But what event made them start the Long-Count calendar at Aug. 13, 3114 BC? And if Jesus was born in 4-6 BC, how do we know how accurate the 12-21-2012 date really is? What about our Leap Years, etc.?
