I think you mean knotting or tying. The knot (Bulbus glandis) as it is commonly known http://images.google.com/imgres?q=Bulbus… is the swollen ball that appears at the base of the erect penis in canines (i.e. not only wolves, dogs have it among others). The male mounts, becomes erect whilst inside the female, the knot swells, he gets off her, turns around with the knot embedded and remains 'locked in' for perhaps 20 minutes or more.
