Also, chicks must be kept warm, either under the mother hen, or with a heat lamp, so I suggest researching a more into that. Backyard Chickens forum is a good place to ask questions.......

Get some chick starter from your local feed store. Pet stores may also have this available. Try and get the kind that doesn't have animal fat and byproducts in it. For my baby chickens, I usually feed them wheat that I grind up myself, mixed with a bit of flax seed. Although they like 'human food' as a treat, it is not good to feed them that regularly. Also, if you just have one chick, get another. Chickens are very social birds and will be VERY unhappy unless they have at least one companion. If you think you can't take care of them or don't have a place for them to go when they're bigger, it would be in the best interest of the chick if you would find it a new home. There are lots of people with chickens that would be willing to take a lone chick. Chickens need lots of space to roam, and a coop, so if you don't have that, or aren't willing to get it a companion, get it a new home.

In the mean time, you can probably feed the chick a bit of the quail food. Check the ingredients and make sure there isn't anything in there that could prove harmful.

Well, I address that actually. I think it would probably be safe to feed the chick quail food, just check the ingredients and see if there's anything in there that could be harmful. If your not sure, I would recommend asking on Backyard Chickens forum.

Other chickens.

Get some chicken crumble from your pet shop or stock agent. Once the chicken has feathers, give it mixed grain.

I'm not sure if I will solve your problem with the description you are letting us know. You could explain a little more so that people can answer with more confidence. Just a thought! :-D
