The chicken egg starts as a yolk, produced by the hen's ovaries. The yolk is released into the oviduct (essentially the chicken egg assembly line). From here, the yolk undergoes various stages of development: fertilization, egg white (albumin) and structural fibers (chalazae) are added, chalazae (which anchor the yolk within the whites) is twisted, the shell is added last. This entire trip down the oviduct usually takes about one day.

They would not normally do it in nature, but though hundreds of years of natural selection, they were breed to lay more eggs. and the more eggs the more food we get. So it is not a product of nature its a product of man.
