prescription drugs? This may be a little vague but I do not want to go into much detail. Let's just say the doctor knows that your 'illness' is not that severe but wants to prescribe you something so they make up some bogus story to 'make more money'. Does this sound far-fetched or is it a reality in some hospitals?

Doctors don't "make more money" by prescribing medications, so there's no point. It isn't only far-fetched, it's ludicrous to the point of paranoia. On the other hand, we often use 10-point pain scales ("Describe for us your pain, 0 being no pain and 10 the worst pain imaginable), and it's a standing joke that nobody seems to have pain less than ten these days. We spend a huge amount of time trying to figure which of the "severe" symptoms have any meaning at all.

That's not only unethical it's illegal.
No, it's not "a reality" in some hospitals.
Hospitals are not money hungry monsters out to bankrupt the little guy.
And doctors do not have to justify why they prescribe a medication.
