What kind of pills can you easily overdose on? (this is for a story i'm writing)

just want to start off by saying i'm not going to kill myself. Creative writing class assigned us a story where the protagonist dies.

I know sleeping pills have changed...now you have to take dozens to actually overdose on..so that wouldn't be realistic. are there any drugs that you only need to take a few of to overdose on? or combine with alcohol?

I know there are sooo many, but the first thing that came to my mind was Digoxin, which is super easy to overdose on! Its used to slow down heart rate in people with heart problems, and the patients that take digoxin are given very very specific instructions about how they must take the same dose at the same time each day, or they risk going into cardiac arrest. For your story, maybe the protagonist can steal some from his grandma or some other old lady?? Taking "a few" pills of digoxin can absolutely make your heart stop within minutes. Or maybe your character is just trying to get high and sees some old person's medication, assumes its something like a pain killer, popps a few, but it turns out it was digoxin! - p.s. Im a nursing student, so this has pretty much been the most "dangerous" drug I have administered in the hospital. So while there are tons of meds for you to choose from, this is one of the few that you will can die very rapidly from a small dose.

CREATIVE writing does not have to be realistic, so there is absolutely no reason for anyone to provide you with that information. Be CREATIVE and make up a drug name.

Btw, the "I'm writing a story" line is way overused for this question, which pops up a lot.

Hmmm, if you want drugs you can overdose on Ecstasy, Oxycotin, Vicodin.
But if you want drugstore drugs you can use Tylenol, but you'd have to down a whole bottle to kill you.
