How are differential equations used in Electrical Engineering

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 12-08-02] [Hit: ]
The equation is 1.5*[1-exp(t/(RC))]. This relationship is obtained using differential equations. Any text in electrical engg will indicate this. See schaum series: problems in electrical engg........
What are some applications of ODEs and PDEs in Electrical Engineering?

My upcoming curriculum requires that Diff. EQ be taken alongside Circuit Analysis and as a pre-requisite for many other courses like "Electromagnetism" and "Signals and System."

I've used Google to search, but I'm really not finding anything useful. Any EEs here that could give me some insight? Or any engineering/math major that can explain it to me.

Thanks!

Try finding an equation of how a capacitor charges through a resistance R when connected to 1.5V. The equation is 1.5*[1-exp(t/(RC))]. This relationship is obtained using differential equations. Any text in electrical engg will indicate this. See schaum series: problems in electrical engg..Another example is determination of current in a series circuit which has R,C and L.
Many many systems are analysed using diff equation. See Rizzoni: principles of electrical engg.
