Why is it that, when you are doing simple distillation of two liquids, most of the distillate will contain more of the liquid that had a lower boiling point than that with a higher boiling point? I don't understand that aspect at all.

At a given temperature, the vapor pressure of a liquid having a lower boiling point will have a higher vapor pressure than a liquid having a higher boiling point. Condense the gas causing the vapor above the mixed liquids and it will have more of the lower boiling component.
