I was wondering for some time now, does love truly exist? Is it just a reaction in our bodies? I have fallen in and out of 'love' multiple times. I once claimed to love a boy for 5 years of my life. Then I met someone else and thought I fell for him. Still today, I believe I have feelings for him. But am I in love or is it just natural that I feel this way about him???

Basically everything can be boiled down to chemistry, and what we call love is no exception. When you fall in love, your brain releases hormones such as serotonin, dopamine, oxytocin and norepinephrine, which, when acting together, produce feelings of elation, intense energy, sleeplessness, craving, loss of appetite and focused attention. It's not mystical or magical, just science.

Thinking love is just a chemical reaction is sad.
You know, water, is just made from a chemical reaction. H2O . But water isn't just a chemical reaction, its more, it provides life, it is essential, you can list so many more things water is.
Love, of course, anything we feel , everything we feel is because of our brains. We feel pain, does that mean pain doesn't exist and it is not real? Well of course its real... it's something we feel. When we feel pain it's our bodies way of telling us that we are hurt, and so we can survive.
Love, feeling love maybe is our brains way of telling us, hey look here, you found someone amazing for you, and I want to do everything I can for them. You can argue how you feel love in your brain "Well its a chemical reaction" So are alot of things, but that doesn't mean thats all it is.
You can't put a chemical reaction on love. If you want to know if love is real, or if love is more than just a chemical reaction, read literature. Its all through history, Shakespear's romeo and julliet, for example, your mother and father, Hitler and his secret wife etc. It is everywhere, and everyone has a want for love
Now you also may argue if love lasts forever, of course it does, love lasts forever, but passion fades. Passion is the glue of a relationship, and after that is gone, you have to find another glue to keep it together. Marriage, friendship, children, the list goes on...
