What makes plants living things

I can understand why THEY are. They move and the perceive. Plants dont move or perceive. By perceive I mean see, smell, taste,......
No, I am NOT trolling. I'm just curious. I mean, I know non-animal organisms like bacteria are living things. I can understand why THEY are. They move and the perceive. Plants don't move or perceive. By perceive I mean see, smell, taste, touch, hear. I know plants are living things. But I don't know what makes them living things. Please no rude answers! Thanks.

plants perceive a lot. They do react to stimuli, they don't do it by walking around, but they do it by growing. You already can see it in a seedling. A seedling will always grow towards the light, even if it has to grow very crooked to do so. They also respond to gravity and they have sensors in their roots which allows them to do so. Vines react to touch by trying to hold onto a support.

Plant can also make chemicals which protects it from insects when they get bitten by insects,

Plants do a lot of sensing and reacting. It's just a bit slower than you, so you don't really pay attention to it.

You can easily search for "characteristics of life" and figure out details apart

Because they're self replicating organisms that obtain and produce energy from nutrients and light and consist of cells that are made of the same basic elements of any other life form. Plants do have senses, not the same senses as animals, but they can perceive, and (for example) they usually lean towards light. Plants and animals diverged about 1.5 billion years ago from microorganisms that could photosynthesize. I would argue that plants are more 'living' than microorganism such as bacteria and viruses; unlike plants, viruses aren't self-sustaining.

this is a silly question, bacteria cant see, feel, ect

plants are very "alive" they have vast genetic codes, sometimes more so then animals, they are a collection of cells that is constantly growing and they reproduce. On the Bio mechanical level (the chemistry inside the cell and yes life is just very complex chemistry, nothing more) they are just as alive as any mammal

They use energy. They respond to changes (light, etc.) They reproduce and grow.

-
they respire
they grow
they reproduce

-
they breath in a gas and give off a gas
