it is said that we have 600 million years left until the sun heats up (becomes 10% brighter) and melts the hydrogen and oxygen off the planet. that will kill the life on the planet within another 200 million years. however in the past, like 400 million years ago, the sun was 70% as bright as it is now. life existed. ok back to the question. we have technology to move the earth in a orbit farther away than it is now. that means that the sun will get brighter as a yellow dwarf for another 4 to 5 billion years. by then we will be living on mercury, venus, earth, moon, mars, mars manmade moons, jupiters moons and some of saturns moons. after 5 billion years from now, the andromeda galaxy will have merged successfully with the milky way and then our galaxy will be 6 times as big as it is now. we will have incredible advancements in science and technology. we might be living on brand new planets that we have mined and created. if there is a "habitable zone" on a red star planet then some red stars are theoretically able to live 100 billion years or longer. so i forgot to mention that our sun will enter its red star giant phase in 5 billion years or so. i was told also that our sun will not explode. it will/might become a brown dwarf. as years have changed, i remember being told that it was going to be a black hole. i no longer believe that. so the correct answer is for you to sit down and on a piece of paper draw a 1. then draw 3 zeros with a comma. then repeat the 3 zeros with a comma until you have gotten bored. after 800 pages then you might come close to an understanding. the real answer is infinite with todays modern knowledge of science. so do you want to see what i might think? well lets look at that number. 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,00… probably a lot more than that. just remember, in a 175,000 years we will be "homo super sapiens." not homo sapiens as we are right now.
