Is anyone else worried about 1950 DA

1950 DA is an asteroid which might hit earth on 2880

what do you think about it?

Why always concentrate on the negative side of things? It makes it look like you spend more than the average thirty hours a week vegetating in front of the idiot box (television).

My suspicion is that the media is now in a high state of desperation to find another doomsday excuse to replace the ones currently doing the rounds. Choose life instead.

2880 - 2011 = 869 years. Nope, not going to worry about it. If and when I am reincarnated in 2453 or 500 years after my death, whichever occurs later, you can ask me again, but I'll probably give you the same answer, unless human life-times have been significantly extended by then, which they very well might be.

800 years? Give me a break. Do you know how many effects will influence that asteroid in that much time? Not just the other planets but things like variations in its albedo? It's rotation and solar wind?

No one can predict where a small asteroid will be in 800 years with that kind of precision.

Since it is more than 800 years in the future, there is no need to worry.

By then we will have the ability to mine asteroids and it will be in possession of BHP.
