An electron is ejected horizontally at a speed of 1.7×10^6 from the electron gun of a computer monitor. If the viewing screen is 40 cm from the end of the gun, how far will the electron travel in the vertical direction before hitting the screen?

Please help me solve this.. thanks!

time taken to reach screen = s/v
t=0.4/1.7 x 10^6
t =2.253 x 10^-7 sec

Distance fallen due to gravity in this time will be
s = 0.5gt^2
s = 0.5 x 9.91 x (2.253 x10^-7)^2
s =2.7157 x 10^-13 m
s = 0.27pm
