Is 1998 and 2000 in the same decade?

Example: 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999 is a decade.
Example2: 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 is a decade.

Note that 1998 and 2000 are not both in either of those decades, even though they are consecutive decades.

This is a human CONVENTION and has NOTHING to do with mathematics.

ted s say: do YOU know the definition of " decade ' ?? it is a period of 10 years and since the difference of 1998 and 2000 < 10 then they are in the same decade.....you NEED to specify what decade { 10 years } you want to use....language is important in every instance...
