IT's like the sun is shining down through GLASS on us...BUT ONLY ON THE CEMENT, ROOFTOPS, and blacktop. Not nearly as bad on the green grass.
I think maybe we don't realize the total effect of having some large percentage of the surface of the earth covered in heating-sucking material. If it's even only 10% then THAT could cause the whole world to get hot...It's like toasting only part of a slice of bread and putting butter on the untoasted part of the bread while the toasted part is still hot...the butter will soften. But the toast cools off...the blacktop stays hot much longer.
The whole earth is one giant bed warmer. Isn't this worth serious consideration? Or did I miss the news journal report on it? If I did then please tell me where to find it! Thanks, Sweatin' Like Death
Thank you for the long rant in support of your "belief" but local heating only affects local temperatures and for every black roof there are a hundred acres of ocean.
Green grass is cooler because it is living, not because it is green or neutral.
A green surface exposed to the sun will receive the same energy as black and radiate back based on its local temperature and get hot based on the balance. You are also comparing materials which hold a lot of heat (concrete and asphalt) with those that don't.
If you actually want to do some research in support of your views - get panels of identical material, like plywood - paint flat black and flat dark green (plant color) expose to sun and after a time accurately measure the surface and back temperatures.
actually, the highest rate of warming anywhere on the planet is in the Arctic where there are very few structures, parking lots and roads.
It's worse when you live in a humid zone.
yes the climate changes, but not every where it's hot. there is more contrast in temperatures. where you live it's hot , here in belgium; the weather is very changeable! the day starts very hot and suddenly there is rain or a hailstorm ... the planet is becoming crazy.
