Here's a list of the ten upcoming solar eclipses that will be seen in Long Island:
1. 3 November 2013: Hybrid eclipse the end of which will be seen shortly after sunset.
2. 23 October 2014: Partial eclipse the start of which will be seen in areas with clear western horizon shortly before sunset.
3. 21 August 2017: Total eclipse that will be seen in the early afternoon as partial eclipse of 68% to 72%.
4. 10 June 2021: Annular eclipse that will be seen as partial eclipse shortly after sunrise.
5. 14 October 2023: Annular eclipse that will be seen in the early afternoon as partial eclipse of 20% to 23%.
6. 8 April 2024: Total eclipse that will be seen in the early afternoon as partial eclipse of 89% to 90%.
7. 29 March 2024: Partial eclipse the end of which might be seen in areas with clear eastern horizon shortly after sunrise.
8. 12 August 2026: Total eclipse that will be seen in the early afternoon as partial eclipse of 9% to 13%.
9. 26 January 2028: Annular eclipse that will be seen in the morning as partial eclipse of 3%.
10. 14 January 2029: Partial eclipse of 39% to 41% that will be seen around noon.

In 2014 there will be one similar to this one that is visible a little farther east. But you would still be on the very edge of it and not get a good view. 2023 will be better.
Since most of Earth is covered by oceans, most eclipses are best viewed from mid ocean and cruise ships often offer eclipse cruises. Sometimes several cruise ships are in sight of each other all taking their passengers to see the same eclipse. Of course it is too late for this eclipse to book a cruise, but later this year, November 3, 2012, there will be another eclipse visible from the south pacific. I am sure there will be cruises offered by several cruise ship companies.
